On Monday, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) announced an extension of the rebate program for advance property tax payments until May 30. This decision was made by the civic body’s revenue committee in response to the significant interest in the scheme, which offers citizens a concession of up to 15% for those who pay their property tax for the 2025-26 fiscal year in advance.
New participants in the advance payment initiative will benefit from a 12% rebate, with an additional 1% for those opting for online payments, resulting in a total benefit of 13%. Property owners who have consistently paid their advance tax for three consecutive years will be eligible for an extra 3% concession, allowing them to receive a maximum rebate of 15%.
From April 8 to 28, the AMC collected advance property tax from over 395,000 residents, amounting to Rs 482.89 crore, with total rebates reaching Rs 52.78 crore. Digital payments contributed Rs 306.22 crore, while offline payments accounted for Rs 176.68 crore. The west zone was the leading contributor, with 103,000 residents making advance payments totaling Rs 123.66 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
