The highly awaited Pink Line of the Namma Metro is set to commence trials conducted by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) as it aims for a mid-2026 launch. “RDSO trials may begin before the month concludes; a few formalities remain.
The inspection process is expected to take a minimum of two weeks to finalize,” a BMRCL representative informed TOI. RDSO testing is a requisite for safety and performance evaluations of Metro systems in India, ensuring that new rolling stock and infrastructure comply with operational standards prior to public launch.
The 21km corridor features a 13km underground segment between Dairy Circle and Nagawara. While the elevated portion from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere is projected to open by mid-2026, the entire corridor is anticipated to be completed by December 2026. Currently, four trainsets have been delivered to BMRCL by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML). The elevated segment of the Pink Line is initially expected to function with 4-5 trainsets.
