High-Rise Construction

Mumbai is among ten cities selected in London Construction Magazine’s new study, Global Tall Building Construction 2027: Ten Cities to Watch. The independent UK report recognises India’s contractors and engineers for delivering complex high-rise projects in dense urban environments.

A landmark office tower and a remarkable residential pipeline

The study highlights The Prestige Sky Tower, a 307.7-metre, 70-storey office project under construction in Mumbai. The Council on Vertical Urbanism (CVU) forecasts completion in 2030. Developed by Prestige Group and designed by OMA, with engineering input from Buro Happold, the tower illustrates India’s ability to deliver internationally significant commercial buildings.

Residential projects including Piramal Mahalaxmi and Aaradhya Avaan are reshaping Mumbai’s skyline. A March 2026 comparison using late-2025 data recorded more than 200 towers of at least 150 metres under construction; this is a historical figure, not a current count. Complex foundations and constrained sites make construction expertise essential.

Indian construction expertise and investment opportunity

Mumbai is a compelling market for international developers, investors, contractors and specialist suppliers, from foundations and façades to lifts and building services. Turner & Townsend’s 2026 guide identifies a 10–18% construction-cost premium for 250–300-metre towers compared with 180–200-metre schemes, underlining the importance of commercial discipline.

“Mumbai is a powerful showcase for India’s construction capability. Building at this scale amid tight urban sites and demanding ground conditions requires remarkable engineering skill. International investors, contractors and designers have good reason to watch this market closely.” — Mihai Chelmus, Founder & Editor, London Construction Magazine

About the international study

Published on 4 November 2026, the study examines ten cities across ten countries. It is not a ranking: LCM distinguishes active construction, topped-out projects and proposals using records available up to 3 November 2026.
