Individuals will no longer need to visit revenue offices to obtain conversion sanads, as the state government has opted to provide this service online. The state government has prepared the Goa Land Revenue (Conversion of Use of Land and Non-Agricultural Assessment) (Amendment) Rules, 2025 to facilitate the online issuance of sanads.
Currently, applicants are required to submit their documents for conversion sanads online; however, the actual collection of these documents was previously conducted in person at revenue offices. The state government has invited feedback and recommendations regarding the draft rules prior to their finalization.
All objections and/or suggestions regarding the aforementioned draft rules should be submitted to the state secretary (revenue) within the stipulated 15-day period to ensure they are considered during the finalization of the draft rules, stated under secretary (revenue) Vrushika Kauthankar.
The state government has revised the Goa Land Revenue Code, 1968, during the winter session of the legislative assembly, reducing the timeframe for issuing conversion sanads from the current 60 days to 45 days.
A significant aspect of this initiative is the streamlining of the duration required for the issuance of conversion sanads. In Goa, conversion sanads are granted in accordance with the provisions of the Goa Land Revenue Code, 1968, in conjunction with the conversion of use of land and non-agricultural assessment.
