Soon Property cards with ULPIN & maps -Maharashtra

"All new land measurements carried out with rovers will help citizens to get geographical estimates and the maps generated will be integrated with ULPIN," state settlement commissioner NK Sudhanshu told

It will soon be possible to get property cards and 7/12 extracts with Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN) and maps highlighting geographical boundaries, if land measurement has been carried out with rovers.

“All new land measurements carried out with rovers will help citizens to get geographical estimates and the maps generated will be integrated with ULPIN,” state settlement commissioner NK Sudhanshu told . The process will begin with Washim and Nandurbar in August followed by all districts, he added.

Officials from the state settlement commissioner’s office said that as part of the first phase, 8 talukas from Nandurbar and 6 from Washim will be covered wherein rover machines will be used to speed up measurement and clear land surveys. The rovers are equipment designed to receive and transmit signals and help cover land measurement in a speedy manner. The state has 1,000 rovers for land measurement.

The state plans to carry out measurements with rovers in 33 talukas in 32 districts across the state, while those in Mumbai city and suburban areas will be carried out through a separate survey, added an official. The integration of maps with ULPIN for both land documents will help citizen get the geographical coordinates in a map-based form along with ULPIN.

The state had initiated the ULPIN, a unique 11-digit identification number, for each land parcel. The state government issued a GR last year stating the number should be displayed on 7/12 extracts in rural areas and property cards in city areas. The state had issued these numbers to nearly 4 crore properties in the state.

The objective of the ULPIN is to ensure that each land parcel has a unique number, which cannot be duplicated. The state issued ULPIN for 3.94 crore land holdings in the state. Besides ULPIN, the Centre has also initiated consent-based Aadhaar linkage with an aim to ensure transparency.

The Centre is pushing for both Aadhaar seeding and ULPIN or Bhu-Aadhaar in land governance across all states. Altogether 28 states have started issuing ULPIN, stated officials.
