Madhya pradesh Metro to run underground from Palasia to Airport

The Metro rail in Indore will run underground from Palasia to Airport with at least three underground stations to be created on the way to accommodate passenger movement without affecting the existing on-road traffic.

The Metro rail in Indore will run underground from Palasia to Airport with at least three underground stations to be created on the way to accommodate passenger movement without affecting the existing on-road traffic.

The details of underground route came to fore on Saturday when MP Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MPMRCL) MD Manish Singh held discussions with public representatives on the proposed Phase-1 route and alignment of the metro rail.

“The Metro rail will move overground from Super Corridor, through MR10, Radisson Square, Bengali Square to Palasia. We plan to have an underground station at Palasia Square,” Singh told reporters.

“The underground route will move from Palasia to Regal Square, where another underground station is planned near DIG office,” he said adding the metro rail route will remain underground from Regal square – will deviate slightly under MG road – and land at another underground station near IMC office.

Singh said that the MPMRCL plans to move the tracks under the Kahn river, pass Rajwada at 250 meter distance underground and land at another underground station around Chhota Ganpati temple near Malharganj police station. “No shifting or demolition is required in this area,” he said.

Another station will be created underground at the warehousing corporation land near Bada Ganapati. The Metro rail track will move underground at Ramchandra Nagar, Kalani Nagar till the airport. Then an overground station will be created at Gandhi Nagar – the start of the Super Corridor.

“We will carry out soil testing and other detailed investigation,” Singh said adding he has received positive response from the public representatives about the proposed plan.

The officials apprised the meeting participants that the test track was being laid at Gandhi Nagar depot. The work of track laying in the viaduct will start soon.
