Residents will get a discount if property tax for the current year is paid on or before April 30.
The discount is offered according to the rules that say 5% of the net property tax payable by an assessee, subject to a maximum of 5,000, shall be granted as an incentive to the person who has paid the property tax within 30 days of the date of commencement of the half-year.
The tax can be paid at the corporation’s offices or to the staff who will visit houses for collection, said a press release.
The government has stepped up awareness among residents to increase compliance so that property tax can be collected in advance and on time.Messages, announcements using public address systems and other means are being done to encourage people to meet the deadline, the official release added.
