During its meeting on Wednesday, the town planning committee of AMC revealed that 8,767 properties will be impacted by more than 200 projects involving road widening and openings.
The initiation of 103 roads across five zones will affect 4,543 properties. In the upcoming days, work on these roads will begin, and alternative arrangements will be made for residents who can provide proof of residence dating back to before 2010. The determination of road widths occurs when AMC formulates town planning schemes.
Nevertheless, in instances of heightened traffic, existing roads are expanded following approval from the state government. Every decade, proposals are submitted to widen current TP roads, with these plans being sanctioned alongside the city development plan. Officials indicated that compensation must be provided if road opening projects necessitate the acquisition of legal properties, while no compensation is allocated for illegal properties.
In the North West Zone, 33 roads will undergo widening, impacting 994 properties. In the Central Zone, six roads will be widened, affecting 133 properties. In the South West Zone, 14 roads will be widened, impacting 512 properties. In the West Zone, 27 roads will be widened, affecting 1,429 properties. In the North Zone, 23 roads will be opened, impacting 1,475 properties. In the western part of the city, 74 roads across three zones will be widened or opened, affecting a total of 2,981 properties.
