About 20,000 mutation entries to be corrected

Additional chief secretary Nitin Kareer told TOI on Monday that department action has been initiated against property registration officials for illegally registering these documents, which are therefore ab initio void, and the mutation entries will be corrected soon.

The mutation entries of around 20,000 registered property documents that have violated the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) rules and the Maharashtra Prevention of Fragmentation and Consolidation of Holdings Act will be corrected by the local authorities.

A state government official said that local authorities have been directed to check the documents and correct the entries. Additional chief secretary Nitin Kareer told on Monday that department action has been initiated against property registration officials for illegally registering these documents, which are therefore ab initio void, and the mutation entries will be corrected soon.

A property registration official said that around 10,000 such documents have been received from Pune district, while similar documents have been filed in Thane, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Latur district in the state. The mutation entries for these documents will be checked and reviewed, he added.

Recently 500 documents were found to be violating these acts in Latur district and action has been initiated against the concerned registration department official.

A few days ago, the state government issued orders transferring three officials of property registration department to non-executive posts for violating the rules. These three officials are among the 82 who are under the radar for illegally registering documents. These officials are from four districts — Pune, Thane, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar and Latur.
