Rajdhani, Tejas Rajdhani to Run on Electric Traction from North East to Delhi

For the introduction of AC electric traction to and from the Guwahati Indian Railways station, a CRS license has been received. Guwahati station in Assam is the busiest railway station in the Northeast. Now the northeastern city is connected to all metros as well as other major cities through 25KV AC traction. According to the Ministry of Railways, the North East Frontier Railway has completed the electrification work of 649 RKM / 1294 TKM from Kattihar to Guwahati. In this way, the total high-density network paths in the NFR (649 RKM) region were run using electrophoresis. Now, this move will connect New Delhi to Guwahati on their smooth electric traction system. Here are some of the benefits to be gained from the electrification of railway sections:

  • Indian Railways will be able to save foreign exchange spent on HSD Oil up to Rs 300 crore annually.
  • The consumption of HSD Oil by the national carrier will also be reduced by 3,400 kiloliters per month which will reduce dependence on imported petroleum.
  • Due to the train’s smooth operation, the inevitable traction change in New Coochbehar and New Jalpaiguri will now be cancelled. This will increase the movement of trains.
  • Due to the improved commuting, the total running time between Katihar to Guwahati will be reduced by 2 hours (approximately) due to the higher speed of the trains. As a result, approximately 10 percent of the department’s trains can be operated.
  • With railway electrification, heavier freight trains can run at higher speeds.
  • As the line’s capacity increases, 10 per cent of the new passenger trains can be introduced, and this will help launch more Rajdhani Express trains for capital interconnection projects.
  • With electricity, dependence on imported petroleum will be reduced.
  • With railway electrification, HOG technology can be used in place of an EOG system with two power cars using two DGs on both ends on all trains equipped with LHB buses.
  • During operation, energy-generating cars consuming approximately 100 liters of diesel per hour can be saved regardless of noise and smoke emissions.
  • For electric traction, greenhouse gas emissions will decrease which will result in a reduction in carbon emissions.
