The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has been providing food to over 500 workers daily. Majority of them were brought to shelter homes from Yamuna Expressway after the lockdown was announced, but they insisted on going back to construction sites they had left.
But absence of industries, corporate companies as well as residential colonies under YEIDA has forced officials to seek help privately.“We have 96 villages notified as industrial sectors. However, complete development is yet to take place in them,” said Shailendra Bhatia, additional CEO of the Authority.
YEIDA brought back 509 labourers who had left under-construction sites for their homes. Members of Yamuna Expressway Residential Plot Owners’ Welfare Association have pooled in more than Rs 1 lakh to provide dry ration to YEIDA. Iskcon volunteers also provide substantial amount of packets to the authority.
