Chandigarh Administration Launches Residential Plot Auction

by Constro Facilitator

The Chandigarh Administration has initiated the process for the e-auction of 10 residential plots located across several prime sectors of the city. The auction, which opens for applications on June 2, is expected to attract strong interest from homebuyers and investors seeking residential land in one of North India’s most planned urban centres.

According to officials, the residential sites being offered range in size from 100 square yards to 502 square yards. The plots are spread across multiple sectors, including 15-B, 20, 21, 23, 27-D, 30-A, 37-A, 44, and 44-B. These locations are among Chandigarh’s established residential areas and are known for their connectivity, civic infrastructure, and quality of life.

The Estate Office has announced that interested bidders can submit applications and deposit the required earnest money deposit (EMD) between June 2 and June 23. The reserve prices for the plots vary according to their size and location, ranging from approximately ₹3.3 crore to ₹16.5 crore. Additionally, bidders interested in corner plots will have to pay an extra 5% over the reserve price, as per the auction conditions.

The administration has outlined a structured schedule for the auction process. After the application period closes, scrutiny and verification of submitted documents will take place between June 24 and June 26. The actual e-auction will be conducted from June 27 to June 29, following which the allotment process will move forward. Officials expect the entire exercise to be completed within a month.

To ensure transparency and security in the bidding process, the administration has made it mandatory for participants to possess a valid Digital Signature Certificate (DSC). Prospective bidders are required to register on the official e-auction portal through the bidder enrolment system and create a unique login ID and password.

Following registration, applicants must link their Digital Signature Certificate with their online profile. The administration has clarified that only one DSC will be accepted for each bidder. Authorities have also advised participants not to share their DSC credentials with others to prevent misuse or unauthorized access to auction-related activities.

The use of a fully digital auction platform is aimed at simplifying participation, enhancing transparency, and reducing procedural delays. Chandigarh has increasingly adopted online systems for property auctions and public asset allocation, allowing broader participation from eligible bidders across different locations.

The upcoming auction comes at a time when demand for residential land in Chandigarh and the surrounding Tricity region continues to remain strong. Limited land availability, robust urban infrastructure, and the city’s reputation as a well-planned urban centre have contributed to sustained interest in residential plots. Auctions conducted by the administration often attract both end-users and investors looking for long-term capital appreciation.

With reserve prices reflecting the premium nature of Chandigarh’s residential real estate market, the auction is expected to generate significant revenue for the administration while providing buyers an opportunity to acquire land in established neighbourhoods.

Detailed information regarding plot specifications, eligibility criteria, payment terms, and bidding procedures has been made available on the official e-auction portal. Interested applicants are encouraged to review all terms and conditions carefully before participating in the bidding process.
