Motorists traveling from Andheri West to the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) will soon reap the benefits of the initial phase of the JVLR double-decker flyover, which is scheduled to open by June 2026.
The project, managed by MMRDA, is designed to ease traffic congestion, especially at the bottlenecks on Veera Desai Road and Captain Suresh Samant Marg. Present delays can result in travel times of 30 to 45 minutes over a distance of 3.7 km.
The 5.08 km flyover consists of two sections: a 2.58 km double-decker flyover accommodating vehicles and Metro Line 6, and a 1.557 km single-level flyover featuring a cable-stayed bridge that spans the Western Express Highway.
Phase 1, extending from Infinity Mall to the JVLR junction, is anticipated to be completed by mid-2026, while Phase 2 is expected to be finished by March 2027. The flyover will facilitate uninterrupted, signal-free travel, significantly decreasing commute times for thousands.
