Chief Minister N Rangasamy announced on August 23, 2025, that a new industrial estate spanning 750 acres will be developed in Puducherry, marking a significant initiative to enhance investment and create employment opportunities within the Union Territory.
This announcement was made during the awards night of the three-day International Business Summit and Expo, which took place at the Old Port Grounds and was organized by the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO).
At the event, seventeen individuals, including members of GOPIO and representatives from India, were honored. CM Rangasamy underscored the numerous advantages Puducherry offers to investors, such as reliable electricity, an available workforce, and a substantial number of educated young people. He encouraged the Indian diaspora to consider investing in the area, stating, “We regard investments from the Indian diaspora as highly significant.
The Puducherry Government will provide all necessary support.” Tourism Minister K Lakshminarayanan emphasized Puducherry’s strengths in education, healthcare, and tourism, highlighting its recognition as one of Asia’s premier walkable cities, while commending the Chief Minister’s impactful welfare initiatives.
