A budget of Rs 133 crore is being set aside post Tuesday’s cabinet meeting to provide proper facilities and amenities for the large number of tourists and devotees who come to Ayodhya.
The amount will be utilised in phases to provide toilets, information centres and streamline the movement of pedestrians who throng the religious sites in the temple town. The state has set a deadline of December 2025 to finish all the projects after preparing a detailed list.
The department of religious affairs has cited the need before the state government to urgently focus on improving the infrastructure around the religious places, particularly the ones around the under-construction Ram temple.
The cabinet on Tuesday appointed Ayodhya development authority as the nodal agency which is going to carry out the works in coordination with the religious affairs department.
