Link to Delhi-Mumbai Expressway from DND flyway

The NHAI has taken up the access controlled link from DND Flyway to Sohna (59 km) to provide seamless connectivity to Mumbai, investing Rs 5,063 crore for this project. The stretch has been divided into three packages and all these are scheduled for completion by April 2024.

The NHAI has taken up the access controlled link from DND Flyway to Sohna (59 km) to provide seamless connectivity to Mumbai, investing Rs 5,063 crore for this project. The stretch has been divided into three packages and all these are scheduled for completion by April 2024.

The first package of 9km from DND Flyway to Jaitpur in south Delhi will be a six-lane elevated corridor along the Yamuna, which will be only for expressway traffic. The second package from Jaitpur to Ballabhgarh (25km) via the existing bypass is being made a six-lane signal-free stretch for expressway traffic. For local traffic, the NHAI is constructing service roads of three lanes each on both sides. The third package is the link set to open this week.

“We will open the stretch to the public in the next few days. This will provide another link to the expressway,” said an NHAI official. This seamless link will also reduce the travel time to Manesar and Neemrana.

Though initially the expressway was planned from Sohna to Mumbai, the highways ministry and NHAI revised the plan to connect Delhi with the country’s financial capital. Later, another addition was made to provide connectivity to the upcoming Jewar airport from the expressway as well.

“We are confident of completing the stretch in the first quarter of 2024. This will also help decongest the Ashram-Faridabad-Ballabhgarh stretch of NH-44,” said an NHAI official.

Officials said once the web of expressways interlinking each other becomes operational, people can travel non-stop from Dehradun and Lucknow to Mumbai via the DND flyway link.
