The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Monday launched an early-bird incentive scheme for those paying property tax.
Launching the scheme, AMC revenue committee chairman Jainik Vakil said citizens who pay their taxes in the first slot — April 22 to May 21 — will get a 10% rebate. Those who pay between May 22 and June 21 will get 9% off, and 8% will be deducted for those paying between June 22 and July 21.
“This is the first time the AMC has offered incentives to early payers. We saw that the AMC was giving incentives equally for those opting for advance property tax payment. So this year we further incentivized it,” said Vakil. The AMC will also give a 1% incentive across slots to those making digital payments.
Citizens whose houses measure 70sq m or less have already been given a 25% rebate and they too will also be eligible for the early-bird incentive. “Though this scheme, we plan to collect 40% of our taxes by mid-July. Twelve lakh families will benefit from the 70sq m rebate,” Vakil added.
