Rehabilitation package for GIFT City gets approval

According to the package, an amount of Rs 1.38 crore would be distributed to 98 persons, including 24 families, whose land and houses that would be acquired for the project.

The land revenue commissioner has approved the rehabilitation and resettlement (RR) package for the families to be evicted for the proposed Gift City project at Ayyampuzha.

Ernakulam district collector had submitted the package to the land revenue commissioner on February 18 and the order says the rehabilitation package would be given to all the families who would be evicted for the project.

KIIFB has already sanctioned Rs 850 crore for the land acquisition and it is expected that the fund would be released next week.

It was in October 2021 that the government issued gazette notification regarding the land acquisition for the project which is part of Kochi-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor.
