On Sunday, BJP leader Tejasvi Surya announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bengaluru to inaugurate the Yellow Line Metro on August 10.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase-3, he stated. In a post on ‘X’, Surya remarked, “Hon. PM Sri @narendramodi Ji’s visit to Bengaluru on August 10 will mark a significant occasion for Bengaluru South. He will inaugurate the long-anticipated Yellow Line Metro operations and lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase 3 – a project that received Cabinet approval within the first 100 days of his third term.” He mentioned that the Yellow Line is expected to serve nearly eight lakh riders and will significantly alleviate the ‘infamous Silk Board jam’.
Public transport is the sole solution to mitigate traffic congestion. “Collectively, these projects will benefit approximately 25 lakh individuals in Bengaluru South,” he added. The MP indicated that by inaugurating the Yellow Line Metro project on August 10, it would meet the August 15 deadline.
Surya attributed this achievement to Modi’s personal insistence that the project be opened to the public without any further delays. Surya, who also serves as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), cited Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who stated on ‘X’, “I am pleased to announce that the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has graciously agreed to inaugurate the 19.15 km Yellow Line from RV Road to Bommasandra of Bengaluru metro, which includes 16 stations at a cost of Rs 5,056.99 crore, and lay the foundation stone for 44.65 km of Bangalore phase-3 at a cost of Rs 15,611 crore on August 10, 2025.” Recently, Surya had organized a demonstration advocating for the opening of the Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro Rail project.
