The Odisha government has reviewed the progress of several major road infrastructure projects planned across Bhubaneswar and other parts of the state. The review focused on project preparedness, pending approvals and measures required to move approved works towards implementation.
Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan chaired the review meeting and stressed the need to complete the projects within their planned timelines. Officials examined the status of several road projects that are expected to improve connectivity and address traffic requirements in and around Bhubaneswar.
Raghunathpur-Trisulia Elevated Corridor Under Review
One of the major projects discussed was the Raghunathpur-Trisulia elevated corridor. The project is among the proposed road infrastructure works aimed at improving movement along important stretches of the Bhubaneswar region.
The review looked at the preparations required to take the project forward, including pending approvals and other procedural requirements. The government has emphasised the need to ensure that project implementation does not face avoidable delays.
Another elevated road proposal reviewed during the meeting was the Studio Chhak-Nuagaon elevated road. The project is part of the planned improvements to the city’s road network and is intended to strengthen connectivity along the identified corridor.
Pipili-Konark Road Project Examined
Officials also reviewed the Pipili-Konark road project, which is an important road connectivity project in Odisha. The review covered the status of preparations and the steps required before the work can progress.
The Pipili-Konark corridor has importance for connectivity between the two locations and for movement towards the Konark region. Progress on the project will depend on completion of the required planning, approvals and implementation activities.
Daya West Canal Road Development
The meeting also examined the first and third phases of the Daya West Canal road development. The project is being taken up in phases, with officials reviewing the status of the different stages.
Phased road development allows work to progress across identified sections while project authorities address requirements related to planning, approvals and execution. The latest review is aimed at ensuring that the planned phases move forward according to schedule.
Ring Roads and Flyovers
The broader review also covered proposed road infrastructure in Bhubaneswar, including the city’s inner and outer ring road plans and flyover projects. Such projects are intended to improve traffic movement by providing additional road capacity and alternative routes.
Ring roads can help distribute traffic away from congested central areas by providing routes around major urban zones. Flyovers and elevated corridors, meanwhile, can separate traffic flows at busy intersections and corridors where road-level congestion is high.
