Property owners to get 5% tax rebate if facilities are set up

The five facilities comprise rainwater harvesting, EV charging stations, recycling of wastewater, solar water heaters and solar power panels.

The owners of over 5.22 lakh properties will get a rebate of 5% in their annual property tax if they set up any of the five facilities in their properties from the current financial year

The five facilities comprise rainwater harvesting, EV charging stations, recycling of wastewater, solar water heaters and solar power panels.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has issued a circular in this connection giving the rebate in annual property tax.

The rebate would remain unchanged if all these facilities are installed. If any residential society takes any of these measures, each of the flat owners would get a 5% rebate.

NMC’s property tax department officials said these measures have been announced with the consent of the municipal commissioner to promote water conservation and the use of renewable energy.

In the case of upcoming projects in the city, the civic body has recently made it mandatory for builders to set up EV charging stations with a minimum of 25 flats and rainwater harvesting facilities in properties involving 500 square meters.

NMC commissioner Chandrkant Pulkundwar said this is part of measures to promote the use of rainwater harvesting, electric vehicles and solar power in the city.

The officials said they have also increased the concession in water tax from the previous 1% to 2% to those who are paying property and water taxes online, with effect from April 1. With the rise in rebate, NMC is eyeing at least Rs100 crore of the property tax to be collected in the April-June period of 2023-24.
