On April 23, 2026, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the foundation of a solar manufacturing facility worth Rs 5,400 crore by ReNew at Rambilli in Anakapalli, representing a significant advancement in the state’s renewable energy development.
This project is being established as a six GW solar ingot and wafer manufacturing unit, anticipated to be instrumental in bolstering India’s domestic solar supply chain and minimizing reliance on imports. The facility is intended to manufacture vital upstream components, including ingots and wafers, which are crucial for the production of solar modules.
This initiative is backed by Andhra Pradesh’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, aimed at attracting substantial investments and positioning the state as a global clean energy center. During a public meeting, the Chief Minister remarked, “Anakapalli district is drawing development through significant investments. It will attain the leading position in investments across India.”
This project is part of ReNew’s extensive investment commitment of Rs 82,000 crore in the state. It is expected to be operational within 24 months and will create over 2,100 job opportunities, thereby contributing to industrial growth and employment in the area. Furthermore, the project aligns with India’s goal of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, while also promoting the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
