The Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), M Maheshwar Rao, has instructed officials to expedite the construction of the Wind Tunnel Junction underpass project located near the UR Rao Satellite Centre on HAL Airport Road in Bengaluru.

During a recent inspection, he directed the authorities to allocate additional manpower and machinery to guarantee the project’s completion within the established timeline. The Chief Commissioner also highlighted the importance of finalizing outstanding utility shifting tasks, which include the relocation of pipelines, sewer lines, electrical cables, and optical fibre cables, within the next 10 days.

To alleviate traffic congestion during the construction period, officials were advised to establish temporary roads through defence land, ISRO, NAL premises, and adjacent private properties wherever possible. Officials report that approximately 70 percent of the project has already been accomplished.

After the utility relocation and retaining wall construction are completed, prefabricated box structures will be placed in the central section prior to commencing the final phase, which involves the development of service roads. Officials have also been tasked with testing the Gobbler smart waste collection machine on major roads in Bengaluru and to provide a performance report before considering broader implementation across city corporations.
