NMC launches rebate scheme for property tax defaulters

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has prolonged the 10 percent discount on property tax payments until July 31. This decision was one of several resolutions focused on citizens that were approved during the initial meeting of the Standing Committee, which took place at the Civic Centre on Friday.

The meeting was presided over by Satya Sharma, the newly appointed Chairperson of the Standing Committee, and featured active engagement from all members, who deliberated on a variety of issues related to public welfare. Following the meeting, Sharma stated that members brought up significant topics concerning the civic body’s preparedness for the monsoon season.

She mentioned that the MCD Commissioner assured the committee that the corporation had undertaken more initiatives this year compared to the last year to address waterlogging and drainage challenges. “New pumps have been installed, dedicated WhatsApp groups have been established for real-time updates, and helpline numbers have been enhanced to operate efficiently across all zones,” Sharma remarked.

The committee also instructed officials to promptly resolve all issues and present an action taken report (ATR) at the subsequent meeting. Sharma noted that approximately 25 agenda items were approved during the meeting, which she characterized as a “productive and decisive beginning” for the new term of the Standing Committee. She added that the meeting signifies the MCD’s renewed commitment to transparency, responsiveness, and proactive governance aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents of Delhi.
