The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated the construction of the ₹3,147 crore Pathalgaon–Kunkuri to Chhattisgarh–Jharkhand border segment of NH-43, which is a vital part of the broader Raipur–Dhanbad Economic Corridor.
This segment stretches over 104.25 km and serves as an essential connection within the 627 km corridor, of which 384 km traverses through Chhattisgarh, highlighting the state’s strategic significance. Upon completion, this project is set to greatly enhance connectivity among major cities such as Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh, and Korba with eastern industrial centers like Dhanbad, Ranchi, and Jamshedpur.
The corridor is anticipated to facilitate the transport of coal, steel, and commercial goods, thereby decreasing travel time and logistics expenses. Engineered as a high-efficiency transportation backbone, the project encompasses 382 structures, including bridges, flyovers, and underpasses designed for vehicles, pedestrians, and wildlife.
Furthermore, it is projected to stimulate regional economic development, enhance accessibility in remote regions, and create job opportunities.
