Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has declared that the anticipated six-lane elevated corridor connecting Maduravoyal and Sriperumbudur on NH-48, with a budget of Rs 600 crore, is expected to receive approval by January 2026.
During the foundation stone laying ceremony for three significant NH projects in Puducherry, amounting to Rs 2,050 crore, he noted a 10 percent advancement on the Chennai PortāMaduravoyal corridor and guaranteed that the ChennaiāBengaluru Expressway would be finalized within six months, reducing travel time to two hours.
The inaugurated projects include the Rs 1,558 crore PuducherryāPoondianguppam bypass, a Rs 436 crore flyover linking Rajiv Gandhi Square and Indira Gandhi Square, and a Rs 25 crore road enhancement at Ganapathi Chettikulam.
Further announcements included a three km elevated corridor from Natesan Nagar to Marapalam and a 13.5 km four-lane stretch between Ariyankuppam and Mullodai, costing Rs 650 crore. Union Minister Gadkari also disclosed that land acquisition has commenced for the Rs 2,200 crore, 46-km PuducherryāMarakkanam flyover.
