Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, assured on Tuesday that the Tanakpur-Lipulekh road through Pithoragarh will be finalized within the upcoming year. During a public event in Dehradun, Gadkari mentioned that the project, which amounts to ₹5,200 crore, has around 200 kilometres of the road already completed out of a total of 370 kilometres.
He emphasized that the remaining 129 kilometres will be finished very shortly. “We hold Mansarovar in high esteem. Currently, our route to reach there is through Nepal and China, and under the guidance of our Prime Minister, we have embarked on a formidable task.
A road is being constructed from Tanakpur to Lipulekh via Pithoragarh at a cost of ₹5200 crore. Out of the total 370 kilometres, nearly 200 kilometres have been accomplished, while the remaining 129 kilometres encounter considerable challenges. Nevertheless, we are determined to complete it within the next year,” he stated.
At the gathering, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised PM Modi and pledged to transform Uttarakhand into the finest State in the nation. He also expressed confidence in the BJP’s success in the 2027 Assembly elections. “Prime Minister, today, under your leadership and guidance, Uttarakhand is advancing in every sector in line with the vision of both development and heritage to realize its steadfast commitment to becoming the best state in the country. I assure you that under your leadership, we will undoubtedly achieve this objective.
Furthermore, similar to the 2022 assembly elections, we will also succeed in forming the government in the courageous land of Uttarakhand in the 2027 elections,” he remarked. Additionally, PM Modi inaugurated the six-lane Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in the capital city of Uttarakhand.
The 213 km long six-lane access-controlled Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor has been constructed at an expenditure exceeding ₹12,000 crore.The corridor traverses through the states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and will reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours at present to around two-and-a-half hours.
