The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched an early bird scheme offering a 5% rebate on property tax if paid between April and June. Those interested to avail it can pay the property tax online by visiting PMC website.
The PMC has urged residents to take advantage of this opportunity and pay their property tax on time.
According to a PMC’s press release, residents will only benefit from this initiative if their payment of property tax to the civic body is made according to the roster. The roster stipulates that a 5% rebate will be applicable for payments made between April to June.
No benefits and penalties will be applicable from July to September, and a 1.5% penalty will be applied if the payment is made from October to March. In the last months, penalties will be imposed on those who have not made their payments on time.
The civic body had collected Rs 105 crore from property tax in the last fiscal (2022-23).
Meanwhile, residents have welcomed this initiative by the PMC, describing it as a commendable step towards alleviating the financial burden on the common people while also saving their valuable time.
“The PMC’s decision to offer a 5% rebate on property tax payments made on time is an excellent move and is a much-needed step to reduce financial burden on people,” said Fauzia Anwar, a homemaker.
“I think this is a good initiative by the PMC. Now, we no longer have to endure the tedium of long queues,” said Ranjan Kumar, a private tutor.
