Cidco offers amnesty to defaulters of mass housing scheme

Cidco has offered an amnesty scheme till April 30, allowing rebates in DPC to those homebuyers who have been unable to pay installments towards booking of flats under Prime Minister Awas Yojna (PMAY).

Defaulters in the mass housing scheme of Cidco have another chance to pay balance installments with discount in delayed payment charges (DPC). Cidco has offered an amnesty scheme till April 30, allowing rebates in DPC to those homebuyers who have been unable to pay installments towards booking of flats under Prime Minister Awas Yojna (PMAY).

Cidco had conducted computerised draws for the apartments under various mass housing schemes during 2018-2022. It is learnt that a few applicants have paid a few installments while some applicants have not paid even a single installment as of date. Considering repeated requests from the defaulters for extension, Cidco board of directors has approved the amnesty scheme as a last chance for clearing dues.

“Cidco has contributed greatly towards the achievement of housing for all under PMAY. Cidco’s housing schemes have helped the common man achieve dream of owning a home. Due to the financial crisis in the past few years, many successful applicants of Cidco Mass Housing Scheme had difficulties in making payments in installments. Hence, considering a humanitarian perspective, the government had directed Cidco to grant an extension to these applicants and give concessions in DPC on their outstanding installments. Accordingly, Cidco has introduced an amnesty scheme,” said chief minister Eknath Shinde.

Cidco MD Sanjay Mukherjee said, “Cidco has decided to declare an amnesty scheme for the applicants who have not paid all the installments in respect to tenements allotted under Cidco’s Mass Housing Schemes. Cidco has taken cognizance of the fact that most of these defaulters belong to EWS and LIG, hence decided to reduce their financial burden by granting concession in the DPC. This scheme will be applicable to only those applicants who pay the outstanding installments within the stipulated time.”

The allotment letters have been issued to applicants who became eligible after the scrutiny of documents was completed.
