Patna civic body collected Rs 105 crore as property tax

Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has now planned to catch hold of such residential premises who have electricity connection but are not paying holding tax. It has also urged the residents to pay their taxes in the first three months for the current year and avail 5% rebate.

The local civic body has collected Rs105 crore as property tax and earned Rs15 crore from non-tax revenue in the FY22-23, which ended on Friday.

Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has now planned to catch hold of such residential premises who have electricity connection but are not paying holding tax. It has also urged the residents to pay their taxes in the first three months for the current year and avail 5% rebate.

The PMC had launched mission Rs120 crore in mid February to achieve the target by March-end. Nearly 50 different teams were formed for te purpose.

However, it managed to collect Rs105 crore till the end. PMC commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar said apart from Rs105 crore from holding tax, they have also generated Rs15 crore from properties under Patna Regional Development Authority, which includes rent from shops owned by them.

“This is four times the money generated in the previous financial year, which was around Rs 4 crore,” said Parashar.
