The property tax collection of the Nashik Municipal Corporation(NMC) reached the Rs 100 crore milestone in the April-June quarter of the 2025-26 financial year, which is slightly lower than the Rs 106 crore collected during the same timeframe last year. Officials from NMC attributed this collection to the rebates of 6-8% offered on property taxes for those who pay promptly.
NMC is providing rebates for timely property tax payments, which include 8% for payments made in April-May, 6% for payments made in June, and 3% for payments made in July, with the incentive scheme set to expire on July 31. Additionally, the civic administration offers a 1% extra concession for payments made online.
Civic officials mentioned that they had sent messages to taxpayers last year to encourage them to take advantage of the tax rebate benefits. “Employees from the property tax department also visited taxpayers’ homes to inform them about the available tax rebates. However, this year, NMC did not send messages to taxpayers as they engaged three private agencies to distribute property tax bills across six divisions.
Nevertheless, NMC successfully collected Rs 100 crore in property tax during the first three months of the financial year,” stated an official. In the previous financial year 2024-25, NMC collected Rs 256 crore in property tax, surpassing the collection target of Rs 250 crore. For the current financial year, NMC has established a property tax collection target of Rs 275 crore.
