FIR on Bharat Developer for not adhering to pollution rules

A civic officer said six squads were formed for the K-West ward. The squad for the Santacruz police station region had issued a copy of air pollution mitigation guidelines on November 8 to the site addressed at Bharat Developer in Vile Parle (West) earlier this month.

The BMC’s K-West ward filed an FIR against a private developer on Monday for not complying with air pollution mitigation measures.

A civic officer said six squads were formed for the K-West ward. The squad for the Santacruz police station region had issued a copy of air pollution mitigation guidelines on November 8 to the site addressed at Bharat Developer in Vile Parle (West) earlier this month.

A stop-work notice was issued and a copy sent to Santacruz police station on November 9. On November 19, a complaint for not following guidelines was received.

Thereafter, the site was visited by a “nuisance detector” which found work in progress and an FIR was registered.“The developer should have fenced the site with a 25-ft tall sheet which he did not do while carrying out the work. The developer has been booked under Indian Penal Code Section 291 (continuance of nuisance after injunction to discontinue),” said DCP (Zone IX) Krishnakant Upadhayay.
