Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 153 development projects worth more than ₹748 crore in the districts of Shravasti and Bahraich. The projects cover road connectivity, railway infrastructure, airport expansion, and flood protection, with the objective of improving regional connectivity and supporting long-term economic development.
During his visit to Shravasti, the Chief Minister launched 83 projects valued at over ₹396 crore across the Shravasti and Bhinga Assembly constituencies. Of these, 42 projects worth more than ₹176 crore were inaugurated, while foundation stones were laid for 41 projects valued at over ₹220 crore.
Highlighting the state’s infrastructure agenda, Yogi Adityanath said that the approved Bahraich–Shravasti–Balrampur–Khalilabad railway line, the ongoing expansion of Shravasti Airport, and proposed four-lane highway projects will significantly improve connectivity in the region. He stated that these initiatives would help transform Shravasti from an aspirational district into an emerging centre for development.
A key announcement was the proposed north-south corridor, which will connect Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, and Ayodhya, strengthening regional road links and reducing travel time. The Chief Minister also announced that the proposed ₹7,500 crore Bahraich–Lucknow four-lane highway will be extended to Shravasti, further enhancing connectivity with the state capital and surrounding districts.
The package includes investments in civic infrastructure, public amenities, and flood protection measures aimed at improving resilience in flood-prone areas. These projects are expected to strengthen transportation networks, facilitate access to essential services, and support economic activities across the region.
Improved road and rail infrastructure is expected to enhance movement of people and goods, encourage tourism, and create new opportunities for trade and investment. The expansion of Shravasti Airport is also expected to improve regional accessibility and support the district’s tourism potential, given its importance as a Buddhist pilgrimage destination.
The latest round of infrastructure investments forms part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s broader strategy to accelerate development in eastern Uttar Pradesh through improved connectivity and public infrastructure. By integrating highways, rail networks, airport facilities, and flood management works, the government aims to support balanced regional growth while improving the quality of life for residents in Shravasti, Bahraich, and neighbouring districts.
