Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, has declared that the current two-lane Salepur–Narsanda–Telmar–Karauta road will be expanded into a four-lane highway, providing a quicker and more efficient route from Patna to Rajgir.
This initiative encompasses the enhancement of the proposed Salepur–Rajgir Buddha Circuit into a four-lane corridor, with the objective of improving connectivity and minimizing travel time for both commuters and tourists visiting the historic town of Rajgir.
During a site visit in the Biharsharif district on May 17, the Chief Minister stated that the upgraded road would act as a vital link between Karauta on National Highway-31 (NH-31) and Rajgir, significantly facilitating vehicular movement. Officials also updated him on the strategy to build an elevated road over the railway line along the route to guarantee uninterrupted transit. The Salepur–Narsanda–Telmar–Karauta Road begins at State Highway-78 (Bihta–Sarmera) and connects to NH-31 at Jagdamba Sthan Mor on the Patna–Mokama route.
The Chief Minister inspected this segment and visited key junctions at Chauhan intersection, Beldaripar, and Noorsarai to evaluate land availability for the planned expansion.
