Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has purchased three contiguous land parcels in Alibaug, located near Mumbai, the financial capital of India, with the intention of constructing a luxury villa in this beach town, renowned for its sea view properties owned by notable personalities.
The total area of the land parcels is a quarter of an acre, for which the actor has disbursed nearly Rs 10 crore, and the transaction was officially registered on Tuesday. The esteemed actor acquired these plots from HOABL Landbuild and has paid a stamp duty amounting to approximately Rs 40 lakhs across three distinct transactions, as indicated by documents obtained from the realty data analytics firm CRE Matrix.
Previously, the Bachchan family had secured another quarter of an acre plot in Ayodhya for Rs. 12.42 crore and had also acquired 1.25 acres of land for the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust in the temple town. Real estate remains a prominent investment choice for high net-worth individuals.
Bollywood personalities are actively purchasing properties, not only for personal enjoyment but also as investment opportunities. Recently, Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan made his inaugural land investment by acquiring a 2,000 sq ft plot within the same coastal development project in Alibaug. Before this, actress Kriti Sanon had also purchased a similarly sized land parcel in the area.
The Bachchan family has been consistently enhancing its property portfolio with significant acquisitions in both the residential and commercial sectors in prime locations. Their recent transactions illustrate a combination of investment strategies and legacy-oriented initiatives, including land designated for the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust.
The family possesses multiple properties, including the bungalows Jalsa, Prateeksha, and Janak, situated in the upscale Juhu area of Mumbai. Among these, Bachchan and his wife recently gifted their opulent bungalow, Prateeksha, to their daughter Shweta Nanda.
Alibaug’s picturesque allure and its closeness to South Mumbai have rendered it a highly desirable location for property investment. Continuous government initiatives aimed at enhancing connectivity, such as the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), upgraded roadways, transportation improvements, and the Navi Mumbai international airport, are propelling real estate development.
Enhanced accessibility has increased the demand for luxury second homes, drawing in both developers and buyers. As property values continue to rise and infrastructure expands, Alibaug is swiftly transforming into a key residential center.
