Kochi metro launches new student travel pass

To help students travel in Metro trains at a low cost, Kochi Metro launched a new travel pass, Vidya-45, on Friday.

To help students travel in Metro trains at a low cost, Kochi Metro launched a new travel pass, Vidya-45, on Friday. Caitlin and Kendall, children of actor and producer Sandra Thomas, inaugurated ‘Vidya-45’ by presenting passes to school students.

With the new pass, a student can travel 50 times within 45 days from any Metro station to any distance. The cost of the pass is Rs 495.

Speaking at the launch function, Metro MD Loknath Behera said that the new scheme mainly targets students under 25 years of age.

According to KMRL authorities, students using ‘Vidya-45’ travel pass have to spend only less than Rs 10 to travel any distance in the Metro. The pass can be purchased from all Metro stations by producing a copy of their identity card from the school/college.

Students of coaching centres, who are above 25 years of age, can also obtain these passes by submitting an affidavit with the student’s photograph from authorities of authorized centres. tnn
