The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has started taking action against allottees that have violated terms and conditions of allotment in the Rehabilitation Scheme/Small Flat Scheme/Affordable Rental Housing Scheme.
Yashpal Garg, chief executive officer, CHB, said, “Till date, allotments of 22 flats have been cancelled. In remaining cases, the order of cancellation will be issued in due course after providing them opportunity of hearing. The CHB is also contemplating to file FIR against such allottees, purchasers, property dealers, deed writers, middlemen, property consultants, facilitators and financers who are found to be involved in illegal transactions to sell, purchase, sub-let and transfer of these flats.”
The CHB has allotted more than 18,000 flats under Rehabilitation Scheme/Small Flat Scheme/Affordable Rental Housing Scheme. The flats cannot be sold, transferred and sub-let.
The cancellation of allotment comes after the CHB conducted an extensive survey of the flats during July 2022 to September 2022. Teams of CHB officers visited each of such flat to see whether it was occupied by the allottee and his family only. Further re-survey was also conducted during November 2022.
In the survey, it was found that out of the 18,138 flats, 15,995 were found to be occupied by the original allottees, 1,117 flats were retained by others, 636 were found locked. In 168 flats people denied to give any information. A total of 214 were with government departments. Five were found to be sealed by CHB and three were vacant.
The flats are located in Dhanas, Industrial Area, Ram Darbar, Mauli Jagran, Maloya, Sector 38W and sectors 49 and 56.
“All the allottees under Rehabilitation Process, Small Flats Scheme and ARHC are informed that in case they do not want to occupy such flats, they can surrender their flats to the CHB but these flats cannot be sold/sub-let/transferred/handed over to other persons. Further the allottees are required to immediately clear all of their outstanding dues,” said Garg.
