Revenue minister K Rajan has said that the government would start the Pattaya Mission to speed up distribution of land to the landless in the state.

He said this during the two-day state-level conference of officials from the revenue department in Ernakulam on Saturday.

The conference approved guidelines for distributing title deeds for people in high range and tribal areas.

The minister said steps were also afoot to give rights on the land for those who colonized the land of other departments. A meeting of ministers and officials of forest, irrigation, KSEB, public works and local self-government will be held in this regard.

He added that steps were also being taken to implement the settlement act for the first time in the history of Kerala. He also said the revenue department would be made fully digitalized in one year. Approval has been given for buying equipment to village and taluk offices using MLA funds and plan funds.

Steps are also underway to make offices from village-level to Secretariat online before November 1, this year. It has been envisaged to increase transparency and speed and the public get the documents at their fingertips as early as possible.

As part of this, the conference discussed the activities underway in each district and the new strategy to be implemented.

The online applications related to the Wetland and Paddy Land Act, which remain accumulated will be settled soon. The meeting also decided to conduct a special workshop for RDOs and sub-collectors in this regard, the minister said.
