90% projects under smart city mission completed

Coimbatore Corporation commissioner M Prathap on Monday said 90% of the smart city mission projects had been completed in the city and that the pending projects would be completed by July.

He said only minor works were pending for the knowledge and study centre being constructed on Addis Street, Valankulam development project and the non-motorized corridor. “The construction of the knowledge and study centre will be completed in two weeks. The chief minister will inaugurate it along with a few other knowledge and study centres constructed by other corporations and municipalities.”

While the Kurichi lake development work would be completed in a month, the Valankulam lake development would be completed in 20 days, he said. Non-motorized transport corridors are also being developed in two places. While the one at Town Hall will be completed by the end of June, work on Crosscut Road will be completed by mid-July. The bio-mining project that would facilitate disposal of nine lakh cubic metres of legacy waste at Vellalore dump yard is expected to be ready by the end of July.
