The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to develop a ‘Singapore City’ in Sector 7 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region, near Noida International Airport. The proposed development aims to attract investments from Singapore-based companies and promote cooperation in sectors such as logistics, semiconductor manufacturing, data centres, green energy and urban planning.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and a 14-member delegation of Singaporean industrialists and investors in Lucknow on Thursday. The meeting was part of the state’s efforts to strengthen investment relations with Singapore following the chief minister’s visit to the country in February 2026.
During the meeting, Adityanath proposed developing Singapore City near the upcoming airport and identified several areas for potential collaboration. The state government plans to allot around 500 acres for the project in YEIDA Sector 7.
The proposed development is expected to incorporate Singaporean technology and expertise in multimodal logistics, high-tech manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, electronics, data centres, cloud services and artificial intelligence. Other identified areas of cooperation include solar energy, green hydrogen, waste management and water recycling.
The initiative is also expected to support the development of Uttar Pradesh’s electronics manufacturing and industrial infrastructure, while creating investment and employment opportunities. The state government is looking to leverage Singapore’s experience in urban planning, infrastructure development and resource management to develop the proposed industrial and business hub.
Adityanath highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s position in India’s electronics manufacturing sector during the meeting. According to him, the state accounts for approximately 55% of the country’s total mobile phone production and 60% of electronic component manufacturing. These figures reflect the state’s growing presence in electronics manufacturing and its potential to attract further investments in advanced manufacturing.
The Singaporean delegation, led by Singapore Business Federation chairperson Mark Lee, had earlier visited industrial areas in Noida and Greater Noida. The investors appreciated the state’s infrastructure facilities, business environment and investor-friendly policies. They also reviewed several ongoing and proposed developments, including Film City, Toy Park, Apparel Park, Medical Devices Park and the proposed semiconductor cluster in Greater Noida and the YEIDA region.
The delegation described these projects as comparable with international standards, indicating potential areas for further collaboration between Singaporean companies and the state.
Referring to Singapore’s economic development, Adityanath highlighted how the country’s growth model under its founding leader, Lee Kuan Yew, demonstrated the importance of long-term planning, administrative efficiency and effective utilisation of resources. He said the proposed partnership could combine Singapore’s technological capabilities with Uttar Pradesh’s industrial and infrastructure potential.
Singapore-Based Group Plans ₹775 Crore Manufacturing Investment
Alongside discussions on Singapore City, the chief minister handed over an eligibility certificate to Greater Nashik Infracon Pvt Ltd, associated with Singapore-based Universal Success Enterprises Group, for 50 acres of land in YEIDA’s Sector 8D.
The company plans to establish an integrated manufacturing facility named Universal Packaging Hub with a proposed investment of ₹775 crore. The project is expected to generate around 1,880 direct employment opportunities.
The proposed Singapore City and the packaging manufacturing facility are part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader efforts to attract international investments and expand its industrial base. With its focus on electronics, semiconductors, logistics, data centres and clean technologies, the YEIDA region is expected to gain further importance as an industrial and investment destination around Noida International Airport.
