The Government of Odisha is set to accelerate its infrastructure development agenda with the inauguration of 49 completed road projects worth ₹1,721 crore, marking a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to strengthen transportation connectivity and support economic growth.

The announcement was made by Prithiviraj Harichandan following a detailed review meeting of ongoing and upcoming road and bridge projects across the state. The completed projects are expected to enhance regional connectivity, improve travel efficiency, and facilitate the movement of goods and people across key districts.

In addition to the completed works, the state government is preparing to launch 47 new road and bridge projects with a combined estimated investment of ₹12,102 crore. These projects form part of Odisha’s broader infrastructure expansion strategy aimed at modernizing transport networks and supporting long-term economic development.

During the review meeting, Harichandan emphasized the need for efficient project execution and strategic planning to ensure infrastructure investments translate into tangible benefits for citizens and businesses. He noted that Odisha continues to receive substantial support from the central government for infrastructure development and urged officials to capitalize on this momentum by maintaining high standards of implementation.

The minister also directed project teams to establish clear timelines and project-specific targets to ensure timely completion of works. Efficient monitoring and coordination, he said, would be crucial in avoiding delays and maximizing the impact of public investments.

Officials reviewed the status of several infrastructure projects currently at different stages of development. The review included 30 projects under active construction, 14 projects awaiting the issuance of work orders, and four projects that are presently in the tendering phase. The assessment was aimed at identifying bottlenecks and accelerating progress on critical infrastructure initiatives.

Road and bridge infrastructure remains a key priority for Odisha as the state seeks to improve connectivity between urban centers, industrial hubs, ports, and rural regions. Enhanced transportation networks are expected to support trade, tourism, manufacturing, agriculture, and logistics activities while also improving access to essential services for residents.

The planned investments align with broader national infrastructure goals and complement ongoing efforts to strengthen connectivity across eastern India. Improved road infrastructure is also expected to attract private investment, facilitate industrial expansion, and create employment opportunities during both construction and operational phases.

With nearly ₹14,000 crore worth of completed and proposed projects under focus, Odisha is positioning itself as one of the country’s fastest-growing infrastructure markets. The upcoming inaugurations and project launches underscore the state government’s commitment to expanding transport infrastructure and creating a more integrated, efficient, and future-ready road network.
