NBCC begins work on 1.2 km skybridge at Bharat Vandana Park

NBCC (India) has initiated the construction of a 1.2 km spiral-shaped pedestrian skybridge at Bharat Vandana Park, located in the Dwarka area of southwest Delhi. Serving as the central architectural feature of the Park, the bridge will reach a height of 45 meters, providing sweeping 360-degree views from its walkway, which stands 18 meters above ground.

The structure, measuring 3.5 meters in width, will be supported by nine pylon towers designed to mimic metallic trees. This includes six Type A pylons equipped with internal ramps, two Type B pylons featuring lifts and ramps, and a prominent Type C pylon, standing at 45 meters, which will include an observatory deck.

The design of the bridge incorporates eight cable-stayed spans that are interconnected in a harmonious rhythm, with the upper deck consisting of box beams, cantilever sections, and stay cables. The underside will be adorned with reflective stainless steel panels, creating a striking ā€œmirror ribbonā€ effect that visually integrates the pylons from below. Officials from NBCC state that the skybridge’s distinctive spiral shape and tree-like structures are intended to establish a bold visual identity and serve as a landmark feature within the expansive 200-acre park developed by the DDA.
