Larsen & Toubro’s Minerals & Metals division has achieved its largest domestic metals order to date, awarded by JSW Steel. Valued between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 15,000 crore, this contract is classified as a “mega order.” It encompasses extensive engineering, procurement, and installation of essential process facilities to facilitate JSW Steel’s ambitious expansion initiative.
The objective of the project is to enhance JSW Steel’s crude steel production capacity from 35 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to over 50 MTPA by the year 2031. L&T will undertake both greenfield and brownfield expansions, primarily at JSW facilities located in Ballari, Karnataka, and Paradip, Odisha. Significant installations will include blast furnaces, steel melt shops, and the necessary process infrastructure vital for large-scale steel production.
This order strengthens L&T’s robust position in the heavy engineering and industrial infrastructure sector, especially within the metals industry. This advancement underscores the ongoing investment momentum in India’s steel sector, propelled by capacity expansion, infrastructure requirements, and long-term industrial growth strategies.
