KDA to develop unused land of government departments

KDA vice-chairman Arvind Singh on Tuesday visited the LDA owned land measuring around one hectare situated near the KDA office at Benajhabar Road on which buildings had been constructed.

Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) on Tuesday began its campaign to develop the unused land of various government departments in the city for residential purposes of people and also the LDAs own land lying near its office at Benajhabar and Motijheel.

KDA vice-chairman Arvind Singh on Tuesday visited the LDA owned land measuring around one hectare situated near the KDA office at Benajhabar Road on which buildings had been constructed. Intensify the efforts to restore the unused and dilapidated buildings of various government departments, he said.

The campaign began with the KDA owned lands near Motijheel Metro Station and behind the KDA office. Chief engineer, executive engineer and other officers accompanied the vice-chairman during his inspection of the land. During the inspection of residential buildings constructed for KDA officials, the executive engineer told the vice-chairman that all the buildings constructed on one hectare land are in a dilapidated condition and have completed their life. Since these buildings had been constructed a long time back they were not fit for living and that a lot of money would be required to renovate them, they said.

Singh directed the chief engineer to first examine the LDA land located on Benajhabar Road near Motijheel Metro Station and the houses raised on it and then prepare and submit the work plan at the earliest after conducting a TS survey. He said since the residential buildings are situated near Motijheel Metro Station, a thought can be given to construct a high-level chopping complexes/shops.

“Build residential houses with state-of-the-art facilities for the KDA officers. Consideration should also be given to how these houses could be connected with the Metro Station and Tulsi Upvan”, Singh said. He also inspected the Bal Udyan constructed by the KDA near Musical Fountain and asked the superintendent of parks to take action as per rules after witnessing the filth littering in the park. The vice-chairman also directed the concerned officers to do landscaping and beautification of Bal Udyan to attract the tourists, said PRO SB Rai.
