Godrej & Boyce announces a new facility at Khalapur

Anil G Varma, Executive director & chief Executive director said to ETInfra, "With the 4 times the area of the existing facility of Vikhroli, the production capacity of the new facility will be 4 times as per the demand and as per the launches as the capacity is not the problem.

Godrej & Boyce, a Godrej Group company, said it would set up its new facility at Khalapur in the state, at an investment of Rs 250 crore to expand its operations.

Anil G Varma, Executive director & Chief Executive Officer said, “With the 4 times of the area of the existing facility of Vikhroli, the production capacity of the new facility will be 4 times as per the demand and as per the launches as the capacity is not the problem.

“The new facility will not be restricted to aerospace, it will be for multiple businesses. We also aim to integrate more and new products in the upcoming facility”, he further said.

The company’s existing facility in Vikhroli Mumbai has provided components to the upcoming Chandrayaan-3 mission for the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

The company has its expertise in manufacturing critical components for space projects including liquid propulsion engines, satellite thrusters, and control module components. These contributions have played an integral role in prestigious missions like  Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan. They have been a part of every single PSLV and GSLV launch contributing significantly to ISRO’s strategic and technological advancements along with the recent launch of NVS-01 Satellite.

In addition, the business partners with Rolls-Royce, Boeing, and GE to design and produce vital parts for the civil aviation industry, said in press release

Godrej Aerospace is the first commercial business in India to produce core modules of this type of engine for the first time in India with the DRDO engine modules,” Behramkamdin added.
