GMC to act against illegal constructions

Commissioner Chekuri Keerthi directed the staff to be alert and make field visits to identify the unauthorized structures. She said that all such activities should come to an end without any delay.

Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) commissioner Chekuri Keerthi has said that departmental action will be initiated against the planning secretary and town planning officer if any unauthorized structure is found during inspections.

She directed the staff to be alert and make field visits to identify the unauthorized structures. She said that all such activities should come to an end without any delay.

Reviewing the town planning department activities, commissioner said that it was unfortunate to see unauthorized constructions going on unabated in the city. “It will not be tolerated henceforth. All unauthorized constructions should be brought to halt immediately. Issue notices to the concerned builders and bring it to my notice,” said Keerthi.

She said that she would not hesitate to take action against the senior officials of the department if they did not act on the proposals send by the town planning secretaries. She directed the city planner to organize meeting with the ward planning secretaries weekly once to review the progress. She asked the officials to expedite the disbursement of TDR bonds to the beneficiaries and complete the marking to launch the road widening works.

She asked the CP to complete the marking for the outfall drain construction in Telecom Nagar. She said that marking and erection of stones for the plots in Jagananna colonies should be completed within three days.

The commissioner expressed serious displeasure about the display of hoardings without payment of the media devise fee to the GMC. She directed the town planning wing to launch a special drive against the unauthorized hoardings and banners from Monday. She said that private agencies were completely negligent in paying the media devise fees to erect the hoardings and banners in the city. “Criminal action should be taken against those pasting and erecting the banners on public offices, flyovers and government offices and they must be removed,” said the commissioner.
