Taiwan-based electronics manufacturing company Foxconn is scouting for more than 200 acres of land near Sanand in Ahmedabad district, Gujarat, for a proposed technology park and high-end electronics manufacturing facility.

According to government sources, executives from Foxconn have already surveyed a potential land parcel near Sanand. The company is expected to take a decision on the location in the coming weeks. Gujarat is among several states being evaluated for the proposed investment.

Foxconn Plans Electronics Manufacturing Facility

The proposed project is expected to include a mobile phone and other high-end electronics manufacturing plant, according to a senior Gujarat government official.

The project would require a large land parcel of more than 200 acres, with Foxconn examining locations based on industrial infrastructure, connectivity, availability of land and investment incentives.

While Gujarat is being considered, the state is not the only location under evaluation. Foxconn is reportedly exploring potential sites in other parts of India before making a final decision on the project.

The proposed investment would add to Foxconn’s existing manufacturing presence in India and could increase the country’s capacity for electronics manufacturing.

Gujarat Offers Incentives for Foxconn Project

The Gujarat government has offered customised incentives and assistance to support Foxconn’s proposed investment, according to sources familiar with the development.

The state’s recently announced industrial policy could also be supplemented with additional incentives specifically for the company. The government is seeking to use its industrial infrastructure and investment policies to attract large electronics and technology manufacturing projects.

Sanand has emerged as an industrial location with manufacturing and infrastructure facilities, making the area a potential location for Foxconn’s proposed technology park.

The project could also support Gujarat’s plans to expand its presence in the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sectors.

Sanand’s Role in Electronics Manufacturing

The proposed Foxconn project comes as Gujarat seeks to develop an integrated manufacturing base covering semiconductors, electronics and mobile phone production.

The availability of industrial land and existing manufacturing infrastructure around Sanand could support the development of additional electronics manufacturing facilities. A large technology park could also create demand for supporting industries, logistics, warehousing and other industrial services.

For Gujarat, attracting another major Foxconn investment would strengthen its position in India’s electronics manufacturing sector. However, the company is yet to finalise the location, and the proposed project remains under evaluation.

Foxconn Expands India Footprint

Foxconn already has manufacturing and technology investments across several Indian states.

In Uttar Pradesh, Foxconn, in partnership with the HCL Group, is setting up a technology and semiconductor park in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area.

The company also operates an electronics assembly facility in Tamil Nadu and has announced plans for a technology hub near Bengaluru in Karnataka.

The proposed Gujarat project would therefore add another potential location to Foxconn’s growing India footprint if the company finalises the Sanand site.

A Foxconn technology park and electronics manufacturing facility could have implications beyond the company’s own operations. A project of this scale could generate demand for industrial infrastructure, component suppliers, logistics providers and other ancillary manufacturing activities.

It could also support employment generation and attract additional electronics-related investments to the region.

For now, Foxconn is continuing its evaluation of potential sites across India. The company is expected to take a call on the final location in the coming weeks. If Sanand is selected, the proposed investment would add another major electronics manufacturing project to Gujarat’s industrial pipeline and strengthen the state’s focus on semiconductor and electronics manufacturing.
