Aska, a prominent town in the Ganjam district, is poised to undergo a substantial infrastructure enhancement, as the Central government has allocated Rs 290 crore for three significant road initiatives.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways(MoRTH) has sanctioned the development of a bypass road that will link National Highways NH-157 and NH-59, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 159.5 crore. In addition, the government has authorized the construction of high-level bridges over the Rushikulya and Badanadi rivers, which border the town, as well as the Tipisara nullah that traverses the center of Aska.

These bridges, projected to cost Rs 126.5 crore, will enhance connectivity and facilitate transportation. The state government’s Works Department has granted administrative approval for these bridge projects. Moreover, Rs 66.35 lakh has been allocated for the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for a four-lane green road extending from Berhampur to Aska, with the overall cost of the 33-km-long road to be established following the completion of the DPR.

The bypass road is designed to include two lanes, two flyovers, and one underpass, with Rs 37.43 crore earmarked for land acquisition.
