The revenue department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Monday announced an for the payment of pending property tax.
Under the scheme, citizens who pay their property tax between January 6 and 31 will get an 80% rebate on tax interest for residential properties and a 60% rebate for non-residential properties.
Those paying taxes in February will get a 75% rebate on interest for residential properties and 55% for non-residential properties. Taxpayers who pay their taxes in March will get a 70% interest rebate for residential units and 50% for non-residential units.
“The pending property tax amounts to Rs 3,000 crore to date. The rebate scheme is to encourage taxpayers to pay their taxes on time. We had introduced the same scheme last year too and got a good response from taxpayers,” said Jainik Vakil, chairman of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation ‘s revenue committee.
