The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced an increased rebate for advance property tax payments for the financial year 2025-26. Taxpayers who pay their property tax in advance can avail of a rebate of up to 15%, which includes a 12% base rebate and additional discounts for online payments.
Under the revised scheme, AMC has raised the base rebate from 10% to 12% for taxpayers who pay in advance. Additionally, an extra 1% rebate is offered for payments made online. Those who have paid their property tax online in advance for three consecutive years will receive another 2% rebate, bringing the total discount to 15%.
The advance tax payment scheme is expected to begin in April 2025, with specific deadlines set by AMC. In the previous financial year, the scheme was available from April 9 to May 31. During this period, 5.82 lakh taxpayers paid their property tax in advance, contributing ₹770 crore to the municipal revenue and earning rebates worth ₹80 crore. Encouraged by the response, AMC has decided to enhance the benefits for the coming year.
With the revised structure, AMC expects advance tax collections to increase to ₹800-900 crore in 2025-26. The estimated total rebates under this scheme may range between ₹100-125 crore. The municipal body aims to improve revenue collection efficiency while offering incentives to encourage timely payments.
The AMC’s budget for 2025-26, amounting to ₹15,502 crore, maintains property tax and vehicle tax rates at current levels. Various concessions will also continue, including a 70% property tax relief for hospitals and clinics operated by charitable trusts in corporation-owned buildings, tax relief for physiotherapy centers run by charitable organizations, and a full vehicle tax exemption for electric vehicles.
The municipal corporation is also promoting digital payments by offering additional rebates for online transactions. Encouraging taxpayers to make payments through AMC’s official online portal and other digital platforms aims to streamline tax collection and improve transparency.
Property owners can make payments through designated bank branches, collection centers, or the AMC website. To maximize savings, taxpayers need to complete their payments before the deadline.
By increasing the rebate and promoting advance payments, AMC seeks to improve revenue flow while providing financial relief to property owners. The initiative benefits both taxpayers and the civic body by ensuring funds are available for urban infrastructure projects and municipal services.
